It is very heart warming and pleasant to feel or know that people see you as a wise person. But most times, some attitudes you exhibit and overlook as something of little significance, can make God see you as a foolish person...Hmmm....Have you ever thought of this?..or don't think so?... Well, here they are:
1. SLANDERING OTHERS: "To Slander" means to make a false statement about someone with an intention of damaging the good opinion people have about the person. It can written, or verbal.
GOD'S VERDICT: "Hiding hatred makes you a liar, slandering others makes you a fool" Proverbs.10:18.
Many persons are guilty of this attitude. What attitude then can help you innocent of this folly and be considered wise by God.
GODLY ADVICE:"Too much talk leads to sin, be sensible and keep your mouth shut" Proverbs.10:19.
2. BE-LITTLING OTHERS: This means making someone or what the person does seem unimportant. you degrade someone or whatever they represent. This is against God's standard for us to care for others..
GOD'S VERDICT: "It is foolish to belittle one’s neighbor; a sensible person keeps quiet".Proverbs 11:12.
When you belittle others, you build a monument of pride in your heart; which will never let you learn and grow. This is because you will not see the need to learn, especially from those you look down on.
GODLY ADVICE: "Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us." Romans 12:3.
3. BEING QUICK-TEMPERED: This means always showing an outburst of anger and quick to harshly react at every slightest offence.
GOD'S VERDICT: "A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted." Proverbs 12:16.
Offences are inevitable, but we have a choice, to either react like chemical agents producing result of outburst, or respond as one with self control.
GODLY ADVICE: "Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city."Proverbs.16:32.
Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent." Psalm.4:4.
4. THINKING YOU'RE ALWAYS RIGHT: The only person who is undoubtedly, always right is God. No man is always right, we always need some guidance at some point in life.
GOD'S VERDICT: "Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others."Proverbs. 12:15.
One thing such an attitude does is to make you proud and not considerate of other people's opinion. You'll never be greater than you are with such an attitude.
GODLY ADVICE: "If you ignore criticism, you will end in poverty and disgrace; if you accept correction, you will be honored." Proverbs.13:18.
5. NOT THINKING BEFORE ACTING: This simply means being hasty and always eager to act without considering its consequences, and this can be disastrous.
GOD'S VERDICT: "Wise people think before they act; fools don’t—and even brag about their foolishness." Proverbs.13:16.
Thinking before acting can save us a great deal of avoidable errors and makes honoured and wise before God and man. A saying goes, "When you think before you speak, people think when you speak"- Dr. Paul Enenche.
GODLY ADVICE: "The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, But everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty" Proverbs.21:5.
